Stray Bird
Stray Bird was an ephemeral, flying sculptural work exploring the restrictions and territorial boundaries of our vast skies. The flying sculptural shape took the abstract form of a hybrid bird/military fighter jet. It makes reference to the freedom of bird flight in the sky in contrast to the highly controlled restrictions over human movement through airspace (the area of the atmosphere controlled by a country over its territory), from basic air traffic control to highly monitored sky space under military control.
Stray Bird was a commission for the Blue Skies Festival 2013.
